LEARN MORE

If you experience any manufacturing defects with any of our products (hey, it happens sometimes), you’re covered by our legally-binding standard two-year warranty by default. It’s also our goal to inspire others to go beyond what is legally required and make products that last as long as possible, so that we can all drastically reduce the environmental footprint created by the manufacturing process.

We go the extra mile by offering a complimentary three-year warranty extension on the Fairphone 4 and 5, and a one-year warranty extension on the Fairbuds. This is irrespective of how you procured the device originally.

All you need to do is register your device within the first 90 days of the purchase date.

How Extended Warranty works

Fairphone’s goal is to make products that last as long as possible, thereby reducing the environmental footprint created by the manufacturing process.

That’s why we offer a complimentary extension on our warranties, offering a total warranty period up to five years for Fairphones and three years for Fairbuds. All you need to do is register your Fairphone device. It’s absolutely free and completely independent of how you procured the device originally. We only require that you have the original sales receipt or proof of purchase.

*The exact length of Extended Warranty depends on the device and the date of purchase.

Warranty for all products

Whether it’s one of our smartphones, an accessory or spare part, you will be covered by our standard, legally-binding, standard two-year warranty, starting from the date of purchase or delivery depending on your circumstances. This covers all manufacturing defects. You can find examples of what’s not covered under this warranty at the bottom of this page.

Remember to keep your receipt or a proof of purchase. You will always be asked for this if you ever need to make a warranty claim in the future.

Where to get help

If you need to make a warranty claim, you should always approach the company you originally purchased the device from. The costs for any repairs, replacements and shipping, if applicable, will be arranged by that company.

  • Purchased from Fairphone’s website: That’s easy! You are in the right place and you should start a conversation with us directly.
Contact customer support Not directly via Fairphone
  • Purchased from a reseller: It’s the resellers’ responsibility to help you further, so we would appreciate you contacting them if you have any issues.
  • Second-hand or gifts: Ideally, you should contact the company from where the product was originally purchased. Keep in mind you continue to benefit from the legal warranty even if you purchased second hand.

Troubleshooting and DIY repairs

We’re serious about our claim: Yours to open, yours to keep. Unlike other brands, we encourage you to repair, improve or upgrade your Fairphone yourself. So, DIY repairs for your Fairphone won’t necessarily void your warranty.

We’re here to help any way we can with useful guides, troubleshooting tools, and affordable spare parts available on our website.

What’s not covered by warranty?

Issues including normal wear and tear and accidental or cosmetic damage are not covered by warranty. Here are some examples:

  • Deterioration of your battery performance
  • Broken display after dropping your phone
  • Scratches on your back cover from daily handling

If your issue is not covered by warranty, we are still happy to help you with any advice or repairs that might be needed. You can always find affordable spare parts and replacements on our website.
